Teething, Laughing and Sleeping Late...All in One Week!

We have had an eventful week. For those of you close to me, you know I've been obsessing over when Jaxon would start teething. After Ryan's mom told me he cut his first tooth at 3 1/2 months, I have been very paranoid. Well, right on schedule, Jaxon started teething this week. The drooling has been happening for over a month, but I noticed Jaxon's white gums early in the week. That followed by screaming, let me know we were there! As my baby is the perfect baby, we knew something was wrong when we couldn't settle him down. Don't worry, we have stocked up on Baby Orajel and Tylenol for our little guy. He seems to be making it through, but the tooth hasn't fully broke through yet.

Now for the positive portion of the week. We are on the verge of laughing! Jaxon has laughed in his sleep since he was born, but we have yet to experience it while he is awake. This week he has started making noise with his smiles. Bebe got the chance to experience it while shopping this week.

Usually Jaxon gets up around 5:30 or 6 then comes in and sleeps with Daddy. This morning, our little star slept until 7 am! We were so proud of him. I heard the fussing through the monitor and got up to go get the little guy. When I got in the room, he started smiling as soon as he saw me. I remember staying with my niece Ava awhile back and loved how happy she was in the morning. We normally have to calm Jaxi down, but not this morning!

After a quiet morning, Grandpa Samford, Bebe, Ava and Reese brought "donalds" over for lunch. The girls love McDonald's and are staying with Bebe this weekend so of course they got to go! We ate it on the floor together and were having a wonderful time until hamburgers and fries started flying. The girls also played with a lot of Jaxon's toys, which is good because he won't mind now, but may in a year or so! I was worried after they left that I would find fries in Jaxon's bouncer, but I only found toys that the girls were apparently sharing. They love their "baby Jax". We were then visited by Grandpa and Grandma Davis for the afternoon and dinner. Jax watched attentively as Grandpa and Daddy put up a light fixture and his closet doors. Jaxon loved all of his visitors!

Jax's First Swim

Yesterday we were over at Grandma and Grandpa Davis' to celebrate Father's Day. Before dinner, we decided to introduce Jax to the wonderful world of swimming. I was with my niece Ava for her first swim a few years ago and lets just say it did not go well so I was expecting the worst. When I told my sister about Jax's plans, I told her it would take 15 minutes. We decided the 15 minutes would be 10 minutes of dressing and sunblock with 5 minutes of pool time. Boy were we wrong! I'm not saying he loved it, but he definitely didn't hate it! I can now look forward to our trip to Wisconsin Dells in a month. I think Jaxon would have enjoyed it more had he been able to play with toys, but we are not quite at that stage yet, we are getting there though! Dad was the supporter while I was the crazy videographer/photographer.
Drying off:
A nap quickly followed....
After swimming and nap time Jaxon was able to spend sometime with Grandpa Davis.
We had been practicing "Happy Father's Day" for a few days. Each time we would ask him to say it, Jax would either talk back to us (in his baby talk) or smile. It was so adorable!

As for Wrigley, this was the result of a day in the heat with his cousin Petey! Don't worry, he recovered...

Happy Father's Day!

It was Ryan's first Father's Day this year. Jaxon woke up around 6:15, but then came in and slept with us until 8:30! Jaxon presented his gift to daddy, a Chicago Cubs mirror for his bar, and a collage of pictures of him and daddy. Earlier in the week, he gave another gift, a card with his footprints. Daddy loves all these gifts! After church, we headed over to Grandpa Samford's house for lunch with the family. Ryan had a relaxing nap while watching the Cubs game. What a treat!

Happy Father's Day!

Bath Time

This is for Aunt K. I believe she requested bath pictures awhile back. Well, right in Nicole fashion, here they are 2 months later! After a surprise visit to Grandpa and Bebe's house to see Uncle Seth, Aunt Jessica and cousins Ava and Reese, it was time to return home for a relaxing bath. Jax has been a bit fussy this week so I figured he would hate his bath, but he made it through it!

Jaxon likes to slide down and then splash with his feet. He got mommy a little wet during the photo shoot!

No X-rated photos on this blog ;)

Time for the hair, Jax's least favorite part.

Jaxon has been dressed up as Mother Theresa since his first bath. Bebe always liked the look. Apparently he still enjoys it!

Davis Estate Sale

On Saturday we spent the day in Goodfield at Ryan's Grandparent's auction. We knew Jax would cheer everyone up so we planned on Jaxi Babe (Aunt Jessica's favorite nickname) and I arriving at 9:30 at the start of the auction. That morning, Jax got up at 6:30 when Ryan left so we put Jaxon in bed with me as he has become accustomed to sleeping in with us. You can imagine my surprise when I woke up at 8:40! I was so proud of my little babe but Ryan was not as proud as this meant we were going to be late for the auction ;)

Once we arrived Jaxon barely made it to the drive way before being taken out of his stroller and passed around. Of course his Great Aunts and cousins were anxious to see him! I knew Jaxon had put on some weight (see previous post for more details), but I had no idea what reaction we would get from people! The day was filled with comments like "Man, you need to feed that child" and "Oh my, he is so big!" I hadn't really thought of him as being big until I see other children his age. At least he is still in 0-3 month clothes and he is not yet 3 months. I can also confirm that the crazy growth spurt has taken a break.

I don't really have any fun stories, but my child was a dream. I was so worried with him being uncomfortable from his shots on Friday. I don't think he ever fussed. He was held by just about everyone and didn't seem to mind. He also went out to eat for dinner!

As for a few pictures from the day. I'll start with a Grandpa Noel and Jax pic:

This is just a favorite of mine for some reason:

After awhile, we had to get serious about the sun. He had sunblock on, but it was time for a hat and sunglasses. A special thank you to Bebe and Aunt Jessica for the hat. We have had trouble finding one small enough for Jax! (Thank you to cousin Tom for holding him for the pic)

Surprisingly Noel only held Jaxon off and on through out the day. He was nice enough to share Jax with his sisters since they don't get to see him as much. Grandpa did manage to get some quality time in:

A family picture of the 3 of us. If only Wrigley was there!

On another note, Jaxon is really starting to grow some hair. It is coming in dark so we will see what happens as it continues to grow!

Traumatic day for our little guy

This morning Jaxon had his 2 month check up and first round of vaccines. I'll start the the fun stuff. My little Jaxi babe (his daddy loves when I call him this ;)) weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 18 inches in length when he was born. At his 2 week check up, he was in the 20th percentile for his head, weight & length. Let's just say we have a large eater on our hands! The doctor has always commented that Jax is a healthy eater. Now, Jax is in the 40th percentile on all 3 things! This does mean he is very proportionate, but it also means he is 23 inches and 12 1/2 pounds. Tonight, Ryan and I had to talk about retiring all newborn size clothes. My little guy is getting so big!

Jaxon also proved to be very active with the doctor. He smiled and was very excited, but also kicked the doctor a few times! The doctor also informed me that he will grow out of the "I love being naked" phase at some point.

Now to the rough stuff. Along with the check up came vaccinations. I knew it would be tough. We gave him the tylenol to prep. He screamed through the shots, but made it through and I was able to comfort him to an extent. After the appointment, I headed into work and dropped Jax off at the school to spend the afternoon with dad. I received a call at work that Jaxon had been crying for over 30 minutes. I felt so bad hearing my baby crying in the background. We have never been unable to console him so I decided to call the doctor to see if we needed to look for anything since we were heading into the weekend. Of course I get an old classmate in which I had to inform her I'm just a crazy first time mom! She said everything sounded fine, but to keep an eye on him. A nurse also called me back after I got home to check in. I'm sure they deal with this all the time, but I was still emabarrassed!

Since I have been home Jaxon has had a full bottle and another dose of Tylenol. He has also been sleeping comfortably since his bath about 2 hours ago. Hopefully he sleeps well tonight and gets to feeling better! Apparently Wrigley felt he needed to get some rest tonight too. He also had a tough week early on. He threw up for 24 hours and gave us a scare! We took him to the vet who gave us 2 types of medicine and special soft food. You could tell he was much better the next day as he was eating paper I had left out on the end table!
