One Year Old

A year ago today around 2:30 in the morning, Ryan and I were told it was time for Jaxon to make his entrance. We had checked into the hospital about 28 hours before this and were so anxious to meet our baby. Then we saw him...and he was perfect!
Fast forward one year and here we are...still with a perfect baby...except he isn't quite a baby anymore!
The birthday began with an American Idol worthy performance of Happy Birthday from Mommy and Daddy as we woke up our birthday boy. He was full of smiles and loved the attention! Last night, Daddy was so excited to give Jaxon his barnyard toy that he asked if I could stay home a little longer so we could give it to him when he woke up. He loved it! Jaxon has such a fascination with doors that this barnyard door did not disappoint! He spent the morning opening and closing, opening and closing, opening and closing...well you get the picture.
Daycare spoiled Jaxon and his class with cupcakes and I'm sure he gobbled his up. I picked him up early so we could spend some time together on his special day. It was so nice out that the 4 of us went on a walk and Jaxon loved it. It was Jaxon's first walk that he got to sit up like a big boy and watch everything as we walked by. Wrigley did escape a few times, but we all managed to make it home in one piece. We followed the walk up with a visit from Papaw and Grandma Davis who treated us to Avanti's then joined us back at the house for a cupcake. Jaxon's Aunt Erin got to watch Jaxon devour his cake all the way from Jamaica. It was also a treat for her to see Jaxon's "no pants dance" and bath. I'm beginning to see a trend...he cried all the way through this bath...guess you can't take this kid away from cake! I'm thinking it may have been the sugar, but Jaxon stayed up until 9...but who could blame him, we let him do whatever he wanted today!
Jaxi - you have made this last year wonderful and we have loved every minute. You have been the perfect baby and we look forward to you continuing this streak of perfection as you enter the toddler phase. We know these fits you have been throwing are just your way of being funny and not a sign of things to come. Anyway, thank you for making your Daddy and Mommy smile everyday and we love you! Happy Birthday Jaxi-babe!

Shamrockin it up for Jaxon's 1st Birthday Party

We held Jaxon's 1st birthday party last Saturday at Grandpa and Bebe Samford's house. We had a great time and Jaxon loved it! Before the party, Jaxon was getting a little anxious for visitors....
However, he ended up taking a nap and sleeping through the arrivals. Once woken up to join the party, Jaxon was a bit cranky. Ok...that is an understatement...he was very cranky! He would cry if someone just looked at him. Once he had his dinner, he perked up and eventually made his rounds to everyone at the party!
Jaxi's cake...shamrock style

Jaxon showing how close he is to walking
Now, let's get to the good stuff! Jaxon helping open his first gift

A Little People boat! Given Jaxon's love for baths, he was instantly drawn to this toy
On to the next...

A toolbox! Not sure my son can be trusted with a hammer, even if it is a toy, but he loves it!
Ava and Reese were kind enough to help Jaxon open the rest of the gifts. I love that Jaxon is playing, Reese is writing about something and Ava is taking charge with gifts!
On to the cake....wearing his beautiful birthday hat designed by Aunt Jessica and oh yes...waiting for cake!

We were off to a nice clean start. He instantly loved the icing, but was taking his time. Mommy was very proud of her sweet baby.

Jaxi sure fooled me! He quickly started eating cake by the handful. What a mess, but what a cutie! Don't worry...a bath followed by Grandma Davis. It was a rough bath though, he cried all the way through it. I think it was taking him away from the cake that made him mad...it was so delicious!
It was a great party and Jaxon had a blast. Thank you to all that shamrocked it out with us, Jaxi appreciated it!

11 Months Old

It is so hard to believe that my little guy is 11 months old and we will be having his 1st birthday party in just a few days...He is getting close to walking, I think it could be any day now. He will stand for a second, but is still working on balance. I'm also glad to see he is really crawling. He army crawled for so long I was thinking that was it!
Most days at home are spent with Jaxon going on investigations throughout the house. Whether it be checking out Wrigley's food, getting into bath toys or finding books in his room, he loves to explore and it is fun to watch! After exploring time is over, we bring Jax back to the living room and organize our barricade so he can't escape! One piece of our barricade is a bean bag foot rest. Jaxon often uses it as a chair as he watches his shows. One Sunday afternoon, Ryan and I were in another room and returned to find Jax passed out in his usual spot....

Laundry time

The other day Ryan was folding laundry and Jaxon is always wanting to get in on laundry action. As soon as I brought him into the living room, Ryan said, "He is going to pull everything out of the basket." Wouldn't you know he was right and soon Jax was stationed in a pile of socks. This entertained him for quite awhile!

He would just keep dumping them on his head...not sure what fun that is...
Ever since he has been mobile, he has loved laundry baskets. In fact, we just took him for a ride in one tonight. Once again..not sure what the fascination is...

1st Haircut

We were hoping to grow Jaxon's hair out for awhile, but it is so thin and straight, we were left with no other option....his first haircut! It was just getting to be a bit too messy so we went in for a little trim...
Before the scissors came out...
After the scissors came out...
When the comb came out...Our hairdresser, Nicole, knows a thing or two about distractions.
Getting through the haircut, but just barely...
We did it! What a good looking guy...Ok, so it wasn't perfect, but he did pretty good and he looks adorable.

What a trooper. He even played while Ryan and I got our hair cut. He is getting to be such a big boy.

Saturday morning fun

First, I will begin by apologizing for the delay in blogs. We had some technical difficulties with our card reader, but I finally went and bought a new one this week. Lots to catch up on! A few weeks ago Jaxi and I spent the morning together and went to one of Daddy's basketball games. He was in such a good mood before the game that I had to get some pics...
With his morning "ba-ba"
"Whoa mom, what are you doing? My hair isn't even done yet!"
Looking cute...did I mention he needs a hair cut? More to come...

Jaxon was a perfect angel at the game that morning. He sat through the whole game without squirming once! We watched some of the bball action, read books, played with toys and had snacktime....the best part? He did not have his pacifier the whole morning! Needless to say since he skipped his morning nap, the pacifier was very much needed in the afternoon. I wanted to test things out since he will not be allowed to have it at daycare when he moves on to the toddler room at 15 months. At least I know he can make it some of the day without it!
