Baby Dedication

Last Sunday, we had Jaxon dedicated at church. We have been planning this for awhile and were so excited. A few days prior to the big day, we all got sick with terrible colds. Luckily, we were starting to feel better by Sunday. We also happened to have an open house that afternoon for our house so Jax got picked up by Papaw and Grandma Davis and headed to see Great Grandma Davis for an early service in Eureka while Ryan and I finished cleaning. I should have known things would be rough by the time we hit the 11 o'clock service for the dedication...
Things started off great as we made our way to the front of the church and Pastor began speaking...
Things quickly turned ugly as Jax got squirmy...
But we managed to make it through and finished with a presentation of Jaxon's certificate and his very first Bible!
Jaxon certainly made it memorable, but we are are still so proud of our little guy!

After the service, Papaw and Grandma Davis along with Grandpa and Bebe Samford joined us for a celebratory lunch at Tequila's. Jax was so tired that he rested his head in Grandma Davis' hand. It was so cute!
What a big day for our little guy. We love you Jaxi babe!

4th of July weekend

Happy 4th of July!
For the second year in a row, we headed up to visit Ryan's family up in Racine, WI. The Best family is always wonderful hosts and we know we are in for a good time! This year we also had the opportunity to take up our friend Elsie to visit the family. We left Friday afternoon and I was so nervous for the drive. The day before we left I made a travel trip to Target to stock up on snacks and of course a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD. Let's just say that DVD was played multiple times while we were in the car...Jax got a little fussy at times, but overall was a great traveler. I was so nervous about it, but he did great. Granted, we did allow the paci most if not all of the rides, but it was worth it!
Saturday we headed to the zoo across the street from the Best's house. This was perfect for Jax since he is developing a love for animals!
In this next picture, I can't figure out why Jax is laughing. I personally was scared of what you are about to see...
This guy just kept staring at us and being completely still...just looking at this picture still gets me!
The kangaroos were great entertainment for Jax
After seeing the animals, we stopped for a snack. Outside of the snack shop, Mariah, Maddie and Peyton enjoyed a vibrating chair.
The morning of the 4th started with breakfast at Uncle Mike and Aunt Sharon's house. Sharon puts together a huge spread and we head out front to watch the parade. We took Jax's traveling booster and sat him out front. He enjoyed eating breakfast while being entertained by the parade.
The Best family is also so nice and rent a bouncy house! Ryan was so excited to take Jaxon in the bouncy house this year and you can see why, he loved it!
Of course, their had to be ball time. Given Jaxon's preferred word at the moment, "ball", we had to keep him happy with a mini basketball.
I don't know if it is his love for Mickey Mouse who was on the back of this chair or the fact that it was a kid size chair, but Jaxon had to sit in this chair several times throughout the weekend. I don't know what it is with this kid and furniture made for his size....he is just drawn to it!

As for the drive home...not so fun. We hit at least 5 road closures trying to get out of Wisconsin. Half the time their was not even a detour sign. At one point Ryan made an illegal turn, but at the encouragement of Elsie. It was so bad she offered to pay the ticket if Ryan got pulled over for the illegal move. We only lost an hour, but it seemed like we were never going to get home!

It was a great weekend and the perfect 4th (minus the heat & road closures). Thank you to the entire Best family for a great weekend and to Tom for letting us crash at his place. We are looking forward to round 2 of the Davis/Best weekend of fun when we get together in the Dells!

15 Month Stats

It is hard to believe Jaxon is going to be 16 months old in a few days! He had his 15 month doctor appointment back in June and seems to be progressing along great. He was 31" (42nd percentile) and 23 lbs 1 oz (27th percentile). Now the rest of the appointment seems to be getting worse! The doctor explained that from now until around 2 years it is normal to be uncomfortable at these appointments. That still didn't make me feel better as Jaxon screamed and cried while the doctor tried to check his mouth out. Poor guy. We then followed it up with some shots. I did feel better that he only has one or two more rounds before kindergarten. I am proud of him for shaking it off just a few minutes after the shots. Maybe next time will be better!

One Year Pictures

Jaxon had his one year pictures taken a few months ago by Pam Cooley (www.pamcooleyphotos.com). She really captured Jaxon's personality! Enjoy!
