A man of many words...sort of

I realized I haven't mentioned a lot about Jaxon's extensive vocabulary. It all started with da-da, then ma-ma, then pup-pup then papaw. He first word other than a name was "ba" for ball, then "mo" for more food. We had to figure "mo" out because it was a bit harder, but once he started to point at food with it, we knew what it meant. That was pretty much it for awhile. Recently, he started saying "Wrig-ree" for Wrigley. He has also decided he would talk about his favorite and I mean favorite sport to watch on TV..."boot-ball" or football as we like to say. Jaxon started saying this from the first game he saw this year! Now whenever we turn it on, he immediately calls out "boot-ball" and smiles. One that we aren't sure about is "Melmo" for Elmo. Jax was reading his Sesame Street book one day and all of a sudden I heard "Melmo". I asked Jaxon "Who is this?" as I pointed to Elmo and got the response of "Melmo". There must be something at daycare because I'm not sure where the love of Elmo came from, but now we have worked Sesame Street into some of our shows. The most recent word was "nana" for banana. He loves bananas and was hungry for dinner the other day. Ryan was holding him and he started pointing and yelling "nana!" I had to decipher this word to mean that Jax was hungry and wanted a banana. The word he uses the most isn't really a word. Most of the time we hear "huh?" with Jax pointing at something. He feels the need to ask what everything is. Half the time he isn't even looking and doesn't even know what he is pointing at. Who knows what else he is saying, I haven't figured it all out yet, but we are loving this!

A Day at the 'Soft'ballpark

A few weeks ago I took Jaxon to one of Ryan's softball games. I thought it would be good to go to this one since it was the last home game. I haven't taken him all season because I knew it would be pointless since he would just want to run around and not sit still. Sure enough, he was up and gone within 5 minutes. He would sit down every once in awhile for snacks, but mostly he was running around. We still had fun so it was worth it. In between games, the teams broke for lunch and Jax was quick to get in on the action. Here he is getting in the middle of the girls. What a ladies man!
With a little bit of food as bribery, Jax spent lunch sitting on the players' laps. Now for the part I felt bad about. Jax wanted to play with the girls during the game! They all love him and fight for who gets to hold him. I think he was drawn to this batting helmet or catcher's helmet (whatever it is) because it looks like a football helmet. He would put it on then make the girl playing with him put it on! It was so funny, but I tried to keep him out of the dugout as much as I could.
Once we got home I took Jax straight to the bath. Given how many times he just sat and played in the dirt, I knew it would be needed. Ryan was cleaning up the bath while I was getting Jaxon changed and he said it was like a pile of dirt in the bath tub. I am still adjusting to raising a boy. I still am not a fan of how much he likes to get dirty!

We miss you aunt Erin!

Jaxon's aunt Erin was home for the month of August. Jaxon really enjoyed getting to spend some time with Erin!
And playing with his toys in the backyard...
And wrestling with Wrigley...he always likes to put on a good show for guests...
And playing at Daddy's softball game...
Colton and Jaxon clearly love their aunt Erin. They even had shirts made!
"Love you and miss you aunt Erin!"
