A Sunday filled with decorating and rest

Our Sunday blizzard kept us home today and we enjoyed our time with Jax! Ryan had been asleep for awhile and I finally dozed off during Elmo. I woke up only a few minutes later and saw Jax dozing off himself on the couch just like mommy and daddy
I let him fall asleep then got up to do some cleaning. As I was getting up, I noticed some new decorations in the tree. I had only been asleep a few minutes, but Jax felt that his Little People nativity set belonged in the tree as decorations. I am not sure what he was thinking given we have a manger for them, but he thought they would look better in the tree I guess...Ryan and I could only laugh, it was too cute!
Wishing you a happy holiday season!

Santa Visit 2010

Let's take a step back to one year ago...Jax with Santa. Clearly not having a great time, but not scared of the man that treats him so well this time of year
Now fast forward to one year later. Jax had his first Santa visit a week and 3 days ago to be exact. Santa was nice enough to visit Jaxon's daycare. I had my camera all ready for our test run prior to our Saturday visit with Santa. As you will notice, no pictures will appear on this blog from that day. Why, you ask? Because Jax clung to me and his teacher Miss Dee and would not even go near Santa...not even for a candy cane. I was prepared for the next visit. We headed over to Bloomington before lunch and Jax slept about half of the way. At Meatheads, he enjoyed his french fries. He was in a great mood and we were ready to head over to mommy's work. Here we are getting ready for our visit...everything looks good. We even walked very close to Santa and Jax couldn't take his eyes off him!
Then it was our turn. Ryan told me to get ready and he would hand Jax over once I was in place. I was ready. I thought, maybe this time will be different...I was wrong. I will say it looks much worse than it was. We were not torturing this poor child regardless of how it seems...
We even tried marshmallows...no luck
We made it a quick visit and got Jax off of Santa's lap quickly. Jax seemed to recover quickly as he got his new toy...blocks. Then we headed over to some other cute photo ops...
A cute family photo under the fireplace
Enjoying Santa's sleigh
On the way home, Jax guarded his toy...no one threatened to take it away so maybe he was just so excited
We made it through! Post Santa visit, Jax now recognizes Santa in books and on TV and gets excited to see him. He can even quote him "Ho, Ho, Ho." I wish he would act like that in person! Maybe next year...

Snow Day

Last Saturday, we woke up to a yard full of snow. This was the first snow that Jax really got to appreciate since he was only crawling last winter. Luckily, I had already got his full snow wardrobe ready to go!
Jax could hardly handle the snow suit, boots and deep snow. He would fall forward and not know how to get up so he would yell and we would come running to pick him up. This happened more than a few times ;)
Studying this "no" as he likes to call it.
Daddy had some troubles starting the snow blower since it had been awhile since its last use. Jax came over to help out
The reaction to his first snowball being thrown at him
Enjoying the snow
The next 3 pictures need some explaining. Jax understood snowballs and how to make them, but not what to do with them afterwards...first up, making the snowball
Then it all went wrong...taking the snowball and shoving it in his face
Not liking the cold snow in his face
Back to enjoying himself after a valuable lesson learned
Helping daddy clear the driveway
Then just watching
The photographer headed inside for some rest while Jax and Ryan went to the backyard so Wrigley could join them. Ryan would yell "Ready, Set, Go" and roll over in the snow. Upon "Go", Jax would yell "Go" and just fall backwards. Poor guy couldn't get himself rolled over, but he still laughed and enjoyed it!

Leaves, leaves and more leaves

If you will notice, I'm finally starting to feel a little bit better so here come the posts...only a few months late...It is hard to blog when you don't feel well and you are only awake for an hour or two once you get home! Anyway, last month, we had some beautiful weather and we were all able to spend the afternoon, and I mean a full afternoon, picking up leaves. Our leaves are so bad Ryan had to actually say "I know you aren't feeling well, but I really need you to help with these leaves." Ryan knew how sick I was feeling if that gives you any idea how many leaves we have! I was also able to capture some pics of Jax that turned out cute!
Jax and Wrigley helping with the leaf blowing
It is hard to tell, but Jax is the one getting blown here
Playing around, he was laughing so hard!
Riding around in his car
Jax made his rounds...he would play by the deck, help us pick up leaves, play on the other side of the yard, help us pick up leaves, ride his car, then you guessed it, he would come back and help a little. He was a real trooper as he would pick up 2 leaves and throw them in the garbage bag. I think we ended up with 18 full garbage bags and Jax contributed about 10 leaves. Luckily, he won't ever really know what we went through since we are moving to a home with a lot less leaves! Can't wait till next fall when we don't have to worry about all of that!

2010 Fall Pictures

I was all set to do Jaxon's 18 month pictures this fall, but someone wasn't as excited as me :) He had a scratch on his chin and only wanted to play, but we were still able to capture some good pics. Enjoy!
Not sure on this one, but I love it!
So innocent
This wagon posed a large problem. Jax wanted to pull it down the hill, but he just moved to fast, I could hardly get pictures. Once we were down at the bottom, I got nervous about being close to the lake so I had to switch quickly from photographer to mommy.
I always love these pictures...they are total Jax
Exploring mother nature in the fall
My favorite!
Jessica, Ava and Reese came with us so I was able to capture some pictures of Ava and Reese as princesses of the castle
Then we had a great time at Bebe's as Ava drove Jax around in her Barbie Jeep. He loved every minute of it.
