Kensley’s Hospital Stay

Kensley really enjoyed her stay in the hospital. While we were busy selling our Washington house, Kensley was getting a lot of visitors and enjoying the attention. I think she knew what she was about to get into when she got home so she also rested up a lot. The nurses said she was one of their favorites because she slept so well in the night!

Great Grandma James loved seeing this tiny little thing!

At first, Colt wanted nothing to do with our little precious…

He changed his mind quickly and gave Kensley lots of love!

Then it was time for Ava and Reese to meet their newest cousin. They were so excited! Great Aunt Sandy enjoyed helping the girls hold Kensley.

Ava was the most excited. This pictures reminds me of one of Jessica holding me when I was born. We were also 4 years a part. Hard to believe that was almost 30 years ago!

I loved spending some quiet time with our little girl. I also felt great the day after having her! My nurses warned me I wouldn’t feel as well the next day…they were right!

Jaxon came back for another visit and enjoyed his gift from Kensley again.

On her last day as we were preparing to head home, Kensley had a touch of jaundice. I was trying to hold myself back from tears…You would have thought it was something so serious! We waited for her blood test and it came back with good levels so we were able to check out that day. We were so happy that only lasted about a day.

Here is our newest bundle of joy ready to go home! She was so little she barely fit in her car seat. She was a perfect angel on our way home!

Kensley Alayna

The morning of June 8th, we managed to get up early and get everyone all packed for our summer adventure…a new baby girl! The night before, I had no problem packing since I couldn’t hardly sleep anyway. Between being 9 months pregnant and the anticipation of meeting my daughter, I didn’t plan on sleeping much. I had gotten my special Jax time in and packed up for a few days with the grandparents. Our first stop…Bebe and Grandpa’s house. Jax was so excited to spend the day with them! He knew something was different about me (a big belly), but didn’t know he would be meeting his sister today!

Then we were off to Bromenn to check in. We had to check in around 6:30. So early, but I was happy to be there first thing since I couldn’t eat anything to prep for the c-section. That was the hardest part about the labor with Jaxon…not eating for 2 days straight. We got all checked in. The nurse commented on our bags, but we had to pack several outfits, blankets, etc for our little girl! We weren’t able to check into our recovery room since there was a baby explosion that week at the hospital. I was doing great until about 8…I started getting nervous. Luckily, Dr. Nord was just about to arrive so things started moving. I noticed it took a minute to get her out. I later learned she was turned funny and facing backwards. Neither of my children wanted to come out on their own! I won’t get into other surgery details, but before we knew it, Kensley was here!

A little note about my hair and makeup. I thought with the second c-section that I would go in looking like a model for great pictures…not so much. I found out the day before that I couldn’t wear make-up! I had my hair all done up and one of the nurses even complemented it. You can’t even tell here. The anesthesia threw me all off…so hot one minute to so cold another. By this point, I didn’t even care. I was just so excited for Kensley!

We had some quiet time while Kensley had her bath. After some much needed rest, Aunt Erin was the first one to meet Kensley, via Skype. It is amazing that her Aunt in Jamaica could be the first to see her! Next up was Aunt Jess of course. She had blocked off her lunch well in advance so she could meet her first niece. (Picture to come later…couldn’t find it)

When Jax arrived, he had no idea what to think. “What is wrong with Mommy?” “Who is this baby?” “What is that gift in the corner?” Luckily, Kensley picked out some gifts for her big brother. Jaxon wouldn’t even come to me until I showed him his gift. Then he crawled right into the hospital bed. Jax’s favorite gift from Kensley was a Veggie Tales school bus! A mix of two of his favorite things. It was perfect! After a visit from Jax, Bebe and Grandpa, Papaw and MaMaw came by to meet our baby girl and make the transfer of Jax. He loved getting passed around by the way.

Aunt K came by as soon as she could get off work. She didn’t even wait for Colt and Adam!

We loved our first day with Kensley. Sometimes I still can’t even believe she is here. Welcome to the family baby girl!

Carol’s House

Since we have moved, Jaxon has been obsessed with our neighbor Carol’s house. At first he thought it was Bebe’s house, but quickly learned who Carol was. He can see it from his window and apparently enjoys watching it outside too!

Jaxon–2 year pictures

This year, I took all of Jaxon’s 2 year pictures. It was a lengthy process that was wrapped up shortly before baby was born. I think a couple days before to be exact. Then I still had to edit after she came! Anyway…after long delay, enjoy!

Castles and Bubbles

We began Jaxon’s 2 year pictures with the castle playground across the street from Grandpa and Bebe’s house. I am no professional so they aren’t the best but we managed to get a few. Ava and Reese were nice enough to pose for a few too!

That tongue!

This is on my computer at my desk. One of Jaxon’s favorite things to do is ask “What doin’?” So every time I look at it I hear “What doin’ Mommy?”

Then onto the bubbles! It was a perfect day for bubbles and the kids loved them as you can see…

Noah’s Ark Spring Program

Each spring Jaxon’s daycare, Noah’s Ark, holds a spring program along with graduation ceremonies. We weren’t really sure we wanted to go until we found out Jax had been practicing and there would be a performance. Once we found this out, we decided we had to go…little did we know we had a show stealer on our hands!

Jax waited patiently for the other classes to perform then it was time for the 2 year olds. Jax quickly went to Miss Lori and got his umbrella…it was his time to shine!

Picture this…the performer back stage (or to the side) prepping for his audience. The audience anxiously awaiting a stellar performance. The music begins…the song choice? Tomorrow from Annie. Yes indeed, the sun did come out, and shined on Jax!

We were warned ahead of time not to expect too much by Miss Lori. The performance began with all the 2 year olds walking in a circle around the stage. As the song continued, they continued their laps. Jax got faster and faster with his laps, sometimes pushing people out of the way…not as bad as George Costanza in a fire, but a similar approach.

We were so glad we went and Jaxon had a great time. He had gotten a serious injury to his eye that day, but he didn’t even let that stop him! What a professional ;)

Easter 2011–Part 2

Easter morning began bright and early! The Easter Bunny’s goodies had to be packed up and couldn’t even be opened at our house. This year we attended Ryan’s parents’ church. They have a true sunrise service. Colt even showed up in his PJs! Jax was in a daze the whole service which I guess worked out good.

Jax before we left looking handsome as usual, but very tired.

After church we headed to breakfast at PaPaw and MaMaw’s house. Then it was time for the Easter egg hunt! (It was cold and Jax and Colt are still young so we had it inside)

Then it was time for the Easter Bunny’s basket!

We then headed home and all 3 took a long nap before heading over to Bebe’s house. Yes, yet another Easter egg hunt!

DSC01149

Are you seeing a pattern here? Each hunt had a break for some candy :)

DSC01150

A proud Ava with her basket of eggs. She also came prepared in case the forecast for rain proved to be true!

DSC01154

Ava and Reese were very selective and would only pick up the princess eggs. This left a lot of eggs and bags of candy for Jaxon…just what Mommy wanted…or maybe not!

DSC01156

After it was all over, there was a lot more sitting and eating out on the screened in porch. It was a great afternoon with the Samford fam!

Happy belated Easter to all!
