One Year Old

A year ago today around 2:30 in the morning, Ryan and I were told it was time for Jaxon to make his entrance. We had checked into the hospital about 28 hours before this and were so anxious to meet our baby. Then we saw him...and he was perfect!
Fast forward one year and here we are...still with a perfect baby...except he isn't quite a baby anymore!
The birthday began with an American Idol worthy performance of Happy Birthday from Mommy and Daddy as we woke up our birthday boy. He was full of smiles and loved the attention! Last night, Daddy was so excited to give Jaxon his barnyard toy that he asked if I could stay home a little longer so we could give it to him when he woke up. He loved it! Jaxon has such a fascination with doors that this barnyard door did not disappoint! He spent the morning opening and closing, opening and closing, opening and closing...well you get the picture.
Daycare spoiled Jaxon and his class with cupcakes and I'm sure he gobbled his up. I picked him up early so we could spend some time together on his special day. It was so nice out that the 4 of us went on a walk and Jaxon loved it. It was Jaxon's first walk that he got to sit up like a big boy and watch everything as we walked by. Wrigley did escape a few times, but we all managed to make it home in one piece. We followed the walk up with a visit from Papaw and Grandma Davis who treated us to Avanti's then joined us back at the house for a cupcake. Jaxon's Aunt Erin got to watch Jaxon devour his cake all the way from Jamaica. It was also a treat for her to see Jaxon's "no pants dance" and bath. I'm beginning to see a trend...he cried all the way through this bath...guess you can't take this kid away from cake! I'm thinking it may have been the sugar, but Jaxon stayed up until 9...but who could blame him, we let him do whatever he wanted today!
Jaxi - you have made this last year wonderful and we have loved every minute. You have been the perfect baby and we look forward to you continuing this streak of perfection as you enter the toddler phase. We know these fits you have been throwing are just your way of being funny and not a sign of things to come. Anyway, thank you for making your Daddy and Mommy smile everyday and we love you! Happy Birthday Jaxi-babe!

  1. I LOVED being able to skype with you last night. Thanks for letting me be apart of Jax's first birthday. I loved watching him eat the cake and the "no pants" dance was cute too:) I love you. Blessings
